Safety
Bounce houses are safe if used CORRECTLY, just like anything else. If you rented a car, would you try to fly it off a cliff expecting it to fly? We hope not. Climbing on top of a bounce house and doing a triple axel back flip tail grab makes as much sense as flying that car off a cliff. So please, follow the rules suggested from the manufacturer and any additional rules the business you are renting from.
We are providing basic tips to help you host a fun and safe event. However, do not rely solely on the tips below. The bounce house business should give you instructions on how to make your event safe. If they do not, ask!
Basic Tips:
- The bounce house needs to be on a flat surface.
- There should be at least a 5' clear perimeter around the bounce house. The inflatable should not rub up against any surface. A bounce house should not be set up in bad weather. This includes rain, hurricanes, tsunamis or winds above 20 mph.
- Children of similar size should be in the bounce house together.
- The power source should be 110v 20amp, which is your typical household outlet. The source should also be within 50 feet of the bounce house.
- Supervision at all times! Most businesses do not supervise the event unless you specifically ask. Maintaining supervision is a must for keeping bouncers safe.
- Have similar age groups bounce at the same time. Imagine a football player bouncing with a horse jockey. Who would end up hurt in this situation?
- Leave shoes, glasses and all other sharp objects outside of the bounce house. This is a good idea to prevent injury to people and damage to the bounce house.
- You should not allow pets in the bounce house.
- If you have a pre-existing health condition that makes you susceptible to injury from falling or bouncing around you should not use a bounce house. If you are pregnant, you should not be in the bounce house.
- Flipping and wrestling can lead to back and neck injuries. Leave that for gymnastics.
- Do not remove the equipment from the area where it was installed. If an inflatable unit moves, pull it by one of its corners back to its original location of installation. Keep all equipment away from swimming pools, other sources of water and BBQ Pits/Grills at all times.
